Hollister was first found in 1868 by the Mutson Indians, and established by William Hollister, in which the town was named after. When my family first moved to Hollister in 1985 it was mostly populated with white people, and had very little population. Now Hollister consists "10,164 (29.1%) White, 341 (1.0%) African American, 617 (1.8%) Native American, 929 (2.7%) Asian, 63 (0.2%) Pacific Islander, 10,437 (29.9%) from other races, and 1,780 (5.1%) from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 22,965 persons (65.7%)." Therefore it has significantly changed over the years. Many people migrate to Hollister from the bay area to get out of the populated areas and go to a small town more laid-back and more relaxing. Hollister is only located 15 minutes from the start of the bay area, and about 2 hours from San Francisco. It is a perfect town to raise your family.
Hollister is also known for the Biker Rally that the town holds every 4th of July. As you could see from this picture it gets crazy, but very fun. It brings a lot of activity to the town, and many tourists. They just cancelled this fun rally 2 years ago, but bikers still continue to come.
